How it works
RRBS uses restriction digestion and size selection to enrich CpG-rich DNA fragments before bisulfite conversion and sequencing. It provides single-base methylation measurements within the covered regions, making it well suited to comparisons of promoters, CpG islands and other enriched loci across samples.
Applications
- Study DNA methylation during cell differentiation and development
- Compare methylation in CpG-rich regions associated with disease or treatment
- Assess changes in DNA methylation following drug treatment
Key features
- Single-base resolution within sequenced regions
- Enrichment of CpG-rich regions makes efficient use of sequencing data
- Comparisons based on sites with adequate coverage across samples
