How it works
LCM spatial omics combines laser capture microdissection with RNA-seq or other suitable omics assays. Selected tissue regions or cells are collected with their location recorded, enabling molecular comparisons between tissue microregions, lesions and adjacent areas, or specific populations within complex tissues.
Applications
- Compare expression across tumors, surrounding tissue and the local microenvironment
- Study molecular changes in defined brain regions or neural cell populations
- Assess drug responses in specific tissue regions
Key features
- Connects molecular profiles to the regions from which samples were collected
- Staining or antibody labeling selected for the research question
- Tissue preparation, capture area and RNA quality assessed together
Workflow
- 01
Prepare tissue and identify the regions of interest
- 02
Collect selected regions by laser microdissection and record their locations
- 03
Prepare nucleic acids or other assay material and perform omics profiling
- 04
Compare regions and interpret molecular differences in their spatial context
